30th of April marks the 100-day countdown of the Beijing Olympics.

The theme song was debuted on Thursday.

Beijing welcomes you is the theme song for 100-day countdown celebration of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Zhao dongming, director of the cultural Activities department of BOCOG says that 100-day countdown is a milestone in the preparation of the Beijing Games.

Male voice: ‘100-day countdown is the moment for us to welcome friends from all around the world with our shining smile; it is also the moment to display all fantastic aspects of Beijing to the world. ’

From the perspective of an ordinary Beijing family, this song expresses the happiness of Chinese people while expecting the coming of the Beijing games, and Beijing’s sincerely warm welcome to people all over the world.

Zhao dongming says music is a unique way to interpreting Olympic spirit.

Male voice: Beijing welcomes you is a simple greeting, but it is also the greeting expressed alongside the preparation work of the Beijing Games. And fresh meaning will be added to the phrase through this theme song. It shows musicians’ enthusiasm of supporting the Beijing Games. ‘

The music video has also been released on Thursday, showing many landmark scenic spots of the capital, from the bird’s nest to the Forbidden City, from water cube to the great wall and from the airport Terminal 3 to traditional courtyard.

It takes one and a half month for this song to compose and record.

The theme song is composed by Hong Kong lyricist Lin xi and mainland composer Xiaoke, and sung by 100 Chinese top singers from the mainland, hongkong and Taiwan.

Lam says this song is a big challenge for him.

Male voice: ’For musician, the best way to participant in the Games is to cheer it through music. I am very lucky to have such a chance. It is not an easy task for me to develop the simple greeting Beijing welcomes you to a charming song, and to match the folk tune as well.’

As a native Beijinger, Xiaoke says he is largely inspired by traditional Beijing ballad.

Male voice: ‘When I took this job, the first tune burst into to my mind was a Beijing ballad we sang quite a lot in our childhood, and while composing this song, I realize that Beijing welcomes you is the simplest greeting but the most sincere that every Chinese wants to tell the world. ’

This theme song Beijing welcomes you will be performed on the celebration party on April 30 to mark the 100-day countdown to the Games.
